Queen Mary 2 Monday

Another great day on board.  Amazingly the North Atlantic in the winter has been a mill pond.  Almost perfectly calm yesterday.  The day was filled with lectures and performances.  In the morning, we had a wonderful lecture on the history of the space race from a PhD from the Jodell Observatory.  Very superb video and historical prosective. Another trip to the Planetarium for  a Universe Presentation.  The afternoon highlight was a piano recital from a wonderful emerging pianist - a well awarded graduate of Cambridge, with exceptional technique and skill.  She will play two more times on the voyage.  After the usual afternoon cruise nap, it was time for a daily walk - in a gorgeous North Atlantic sunset around the promenade deck (3 laps = 1.1 miles!).  After dinner the show was rock@opera.  Average from a relative value but had four of the best vocalists that I have heard anywhere!!!  At times I thought I was listening to Il Divo with two female members.  It was one of those nights that you felt formal wear was the appropriate attire.  I look forward to their singing again - those four were absolutely superb.
Back to you tomorrow!
